Types of Triangles By Side Equilateral 3 equal sides all angles Isosceles 2 equal sides 2 equal angles Scalene no equal sides no equal angles By Angle Right 1 angle Acute all angles Obtuse 1 angle Triangles can be classified on the basis of Sides Angles Let’s look at each one by one Classification of Triangles on basis of sideNow, in ∆ABC, There can be 3 cases All sides are different Two sides are same Three sides are same. Thus, If all three sides are different, it is a scalene triangle. If two sides are equal, it is an isosceles triangle. If all three sides are same, it is an equilateral triangle. (a) is equilateral triangle (b) is isosceles triangle (c) is scalene triangle (d) is equilateral triangle (e) is scalene triangle (f) is isosceles triangle Classification of Triangles on basis of anglesNow, in ∆ABC, There can be 3 cases All angles are acute One angle is right angle (90°) One angle is greater than 90° (i.e one angle is obtuse) Thus, If all angles are acute, it is an acute angled triangle. If one angle is right angle, it is a right angled triangle. If one angle is greater than 90°, it is an obtuse angled triangle. Right angle = 90° Acute angle < 90° Obtuse angle > 90° (a) is an acute-angled triangle (b) is a right-angled triangle (c) is an obtuse angled triangle (d) is a right angled triangle (e) is an obtuse angled triangle (f) is an acute angled triangle
