Why do the Western Ghats receive more rainfall than the Eastern Ghats? Explain briefly.

  1. The Arabian Sea monsoon winds bring rain to the Western Ghats. 
  2. They do not permit these winds to cross without depositing moisture on the western slopes.
  3. A portion of these winds that reach th e Eastern Ghats i s almost completely dry.
