Manmade lakes are also known as artificial lakes and the causes of man-made lakes are

  1. Man-made lakes are built for hydroelectric power generation , recreational purposes , i ndustrial use, agricultural use, or domestic water supply.
  2. Lakes are formed by hindering the natural flow of a river , resulting in a collection of water on one side.
  3. Examples of Man-made lakes:  Guru Gobind Sagar Lake (Himachal Pradesh), and Hirakud lake (Odisha).
