Trade 

  • The Harappans exported surplus goods and brought in goods t hat were in short supply.

  • Copper, tin, gold, silver and precious metal s were brought from outside, possibly from Mesopotamia (Modern Iraq), Persia (Modern Iran), Oman and Afghanistan .

  • Trading links with Mesopotamia have been proved by the discovery of Mesapotamian seals in many Harappan cities and Harappan seals in the cities of ancient Mesopotamia.

  • The overseas trade was perhaps carried on from Lothal, w here a dockyard for ships has been found.
