Heat is transferred from hot objects to cold objects .

For Example

  • A pan becomes hot when kept on the flame - Heat transferred from flame to pan
  • It cools down again when the flame is switched off - Heat transferred from pan to surroundings
  • The other end of a rod would heat if a flame is applied to one end - Transfer of heat through the rod from the hotter end to the colder end.
  • This implies that heat cannot be transferred if two objects have the same temperature .
