Virtual image

The image formed when rays of light meet at a point after reflection/refraction is called real image.

The image formed when rays of light appear to meet (when diverging rays are extended) at a point is called a virtual image. 

Is formed on the different side as that of the object. 

It is formed on the same side of the object. 

Real images are inverted. 

Virtual images are erect. 

Real images can be obtained on a screen. 

Virtual images can not be obtained on a screen.
