There are two types of Forces - Contact Force and Non-Contact Force

 

Contact Forces

Forces which can be exerted by one object on another object on Physical contact (physical touching) is called Contact Force

Here, one object should touch other object

Example

  • Muscular Force
  • Friction

 

Non-Contact Forces

Forces which can be exerted by one object on another object from a distance (even  without physical contact with the object)

Example

  • Electrostatic Force
  • Magnetic Force
  • Gravity
