Meaning of Adolescence and Puberty

What is adolescence?

Adolescence is a period of life when body undergoes changes leading to reproductive maturity.

In easy language,

Adolescence is the period between childhood and adulthood.

Period between 11 to 18 years is called adolescence

Since this period covers the ‘teens’ (13 to 18 or 19 years of age), adolescents are also called ‘teenagers’.

The time when adolescents become sexually mature and capable of reproduction is called puberty

Girls attain puberty around age of 10-12 years

Men obtain puberty around 12-13 years

Different changes in human body during adolescence is called Puberty like increase in height,change in voice,development of reproductive organs etc
