Ex 9.1, 2 Frame the converse for each of the propositions in Questions 1–12. Then, determine if each of the two statements is true or not. Justify the true statements and give a counterexample for each false statement. If a quadrilateral is a square, then all its angles are equal. Let’s write Proposition and Converse first Proposition: If a quadrilateral is a square, then all its angles are equal. Converse: If all the angles of a quadrilateral are equal, then it is a square. Checking if Proposition is true Proposition: If a quadrilateral is a square, then all its angles are equal. In square ABCD ∠ A = ∠ B = ∠ C = ∠ D = 90° Since all angles are equal ∴ Proposition is true Checking if Converse is true Converse: If all the angles of a quadrilateral are equal, then it is a square. Let’s take a rectangle PQRS In rectangle PQRS ∠ P = ∠ Q = ∠ R = ∠ S = 90° Here, all angles are equal but PQRS is not a square ∴ Converse is false
