Question 1 - Page 107 Try to explain this using the fair-share interpretation of average that you learnt last year. Imagine a group of friends have different amounts of chocolates, but if they pooled them together and shared equally (the mean), everyone would get exactly 10 chocolate Now, imagine a rule is made that every single friend must give away 2 of their chocolates. Because every individual lost 2 , the new "fair share" for everyone drops by exactly 2 . The new mean is 8 chocolates Thus, we can say If number a is added to each term New Mean = Old mean + a If number b is subtracted to each term New Mean = Old mean – b
