Use of Body PartsOne method of counting was to use hands and other body parts as a "standard sequence/number system". Many groups across the world have done this. The text gives a specific example of a group in Papua New Guinea, where 27 different points on the hands, arms, and head are used to represent numbers 1 through 27.
