Question 2 Construct a triangle TRY with RY = 4 cm, TR = 7 cm, ∠R = 140°. Construct an altitude from T to RY. Since we need to construct an altitude from T to RY We make RY as the Base Drawing Rough Diagram Steps of construction – For making Triangle 1. Draw a line segment RY of length 4 cm 2. Now, using protractor, we draw 140° from point R 3. Since TR = 3 cm. Taking R as center, 7 cm as radius, we draw an arc Let the point where arc intersects the ray be point T 4. Join BC and label the sides Thus, Δ ABC is the required triangle Thus, Δ TRY is the required triangle Now, let’s construct Altitude Constructing Altitude TD Steps of construction – For making Altitude 1. We align Ruler to our base RY 2. We put our set-square on top of our ruler – aligning its edges 3. We slide our set-square over the ruler till the vertical edge of the set square touches the vertex T 4. From point T, we draw the line over the vertical edge of our set-square till it reaches extended RY. We mark 90° and point D as point touching altitude from and extended RY Thus, TD is our required altitude
