Question 1 Construct a triangle ABC with BC = 5 cm, AB = 6 cm, CA = 5 cm. Construct an altitude from A to BC. Since we need to construct an altitude from A to BC We make BC as the Base Drawing Rough Diagram Steps of construction – For making Triangle 1. Draw a line segment BC of length 5 cm 2. Since AB = 6 cm. Taking 6 cm as radius, and B as center, we draw a full circle lightly 3. Since AC = 5 cm. Taking 5 cm as radius, and C as center, we draw a full circle lightly Now, where these two circles intersect is our point A 5. Join AC and BC and label the sides Thus, Δ ABC is the required triangle Now, let’s construct Altitude Constructing Altitude AD Steps of construction – For making Altitude 1. We align Ruler to our base BC 2. We put our set-square on top of our ruler – aligning its edges 3. We slide our set-square over the ruler till the vertical edge of the set square touches the vertex A 4. From point A, we draw the line over the vertical edge of our set-square till it reaches BC. We mark 90° and point D as point touching altitude from and BC Thus, AD is our required altitude
