Reciprocal What is a Reciprocal? It's simply a "flipped" fraction, also known as the Multiplicative Inverse. Finding the Reciprocal is Easy! Just swap the numerator and the denominator. ■(" Original Fraction " &&" Reciprocal " @3/5&⟶&5/3) The Magic Property A number multiplied by its reciprocal always equals 1 . 3/5×5/3=15/15=1 How to Handle Whole Numbers Why Does This Matter? Finding the reciprocal is the key to solving fraction division! It allows us to turn a tricky division problem into a simple multiplication problem, which we already know how to solve.
