Question 1 - Page 73 Which of the above (i.e. 0.9, 1.1, 1.01, and 1.11) is closest to 1.09?Step 1: Find the difference for each number We find the difference by subtracting the smaller number from the larger one For 0.9: The difference from 1 is 1.09 - 0.90 = 0.19 For 1.1: The difference from 1 is 1.1 – 1.09 = 0.01 For 1.01: The difference from 1 is 1.09 – 1.01 = 0.08 For 1.11: The difference from 1 is 1.11 – 1.09 = 0.02 Step 2: Compare the differences Now, compare the results you calculated: 0.19 0.01 0.08 0.02 The smallest of these values is 0.01 Step 3: Identify the closest decimal The decimal that gave the smallest difference (0.01) was 1.1. Therefore, 1.1 is the closest to 1.09
