Closest decimal Let’s do this with an example Consider the decimal numbers 0.9, 1.1, 1.01, and 1.11. Identify the decimal number that is closest to 1 To find closest number, we follow two steps Step 1 – Find difference between numbers Step 2 – Compare difference Number with smallest difference is the closest Let’s do it Step 1: Find the difference for each number We find the difference by subtracting the smaller number from the larger one. For 0.9: The difference from 1 is 1 - 0.9 = 0.1 For 1.1: The difference from 1 is 1.1 - 1 = 0.1 For 1.01: The difference from 1 is 1.01 - 1 = 0.01 For 1.11: The difference from 1 is 1.11 - 1 = 0.11 Step 2: Compare the differences Now, compare the results you calculated: 0.1 0.1 0.01 0.11 The smallest of these values is 0.01 Step 3: Identify the closest decimal The decimal that gave the smallest difference (0.01) was 1.01. Therefore, 1.01 is the closest to 1. Let's try some questions
