Origin 

Majority of the Himalayan rivers originates from the Himalayan mountains.

Peninsular rivers originate from the Western Ghats and the Central Highlands

Nature of the River 

Himalayan rivers are perennial in nature as they are fed by glaciers 

Peninsular rivers are seasona l in nature as thier flow is dependent on rainfall. 

Rivers Depth

Himalayan rivers are long and have deep courses.  

Peninsular rivers are short and have shallow courses.

Significance

The Himalayan rivers flow in  Northern  Plains and carried fertile soil. So,  they are useful for navigation and  agriculture activities  

The Peninsular rivers flow on uneven rocky surfaces. So,  they are not useful for navigation and agriculture activities  

Examples

Ganga river, Indus river, Brahmaputra river 

Narmada river, Tapi river, Mahanadi, Godavari river, Krishna river , etc.
