  • Female foeticide is the practice of killing a female child in the womb before she is born, because of the preference for a male child .

  • The government has passed the Prenatal Diagnostic Techniques (Regulation and Prevention of Misuse) Act PNDT Act to curb female foeticide.

  • This act bans the sex determination and disclosure of the foetus .

  •   Anyone who breaks this law can be punished with jail and fine.
