  • The Harappan Civilization was one of the earliest urban civilizations in the world, and there are few written records from that time period. Thus, archaeology is the primary means of understanding the civilization.

  • Archaeological sources such as artifacts, pottery, tools, and buildings provide a wealth of information about the Harappan Civilization, including their economy, trade, technology, religion, and social structure.

  • The Indus script , which is the written language of the Harappan Civilization, has n ot yet been fully deciphered. Therefore, archaeology is the most reliable source of information for understanding the civilization's culture and daily life.

  • Archaeological excavations have been conducted at many Harappan sites, including Mohenjo-daro, Harappa, and Dholavira, yielding a wealth of information about the civilization's architecture, urban planning, and art.
