A substance which react with base to form salt and water is called acid

A substance which can neutralise an acid to form salt and water is called base

The product of a neutralisation reaction between an acid and a base.

They have a sour taste.

 

They have a bitter taste and are soapy to touch.

No particular characteristic taste.

They turn blue litmus red.

They turn red litmus blue.

Do not react with indicators.

For Example - Acetic Acid,citric acid,hydrochloric acid etc.

For Example - Sodium hydroxide and Potassium hydroxide
