Write the functions of the following parts of human female reproductive system:

(i) Ovary,

(ii) Fallopian tube

(iii) Uterus.

 

Answer:

(i) Ovary - 

Primary reproductive organs in a female. Its function is to make the mature female sex cells called ova or eggs and also to secrete the female sex hormones - oestrogen and progesterone.  

(ii) Fallopian tube - 

The egg released by an ovary is transported to the uterus through the fallopian tube and it is the site of fertilisation.

(iii) Uterus - 

It is the site of implantation of the ovum and it is where the development of fertilised egg into a baby takes place.
