Ex 7.1 , 1 Find the distance between the following pairs of points : (i) (2, 3), (4, 1) Let the two points be P(2, 3) & Q(4, 1) We need to find distance PQ PQ = โ((๐ฅ2 โ๐ฅ1)2+(๐ฆ2 โ๐ฆ1)2) Here, x1 = x coordinate of P = 2 y1 = y coordinate of P = 3 x2 = x coordinate of Q = 4 y2 = y coordinate of Q = 1 Putting values PQ = โ((4 โ2 )2+(1 โ3)2) = โ((2 )2+(โ2)2) = โ((2 ร2)+(โ2 รโ2) ) = โ(4+4) = โ8 = โ(4(2)) = โ(4 ร(2)) = โ4 ร โ2 = 2 ร โ2 = 2โ๐
