  • Nylon
  • Polyester
  • Acrylic

 

What is a polymer?

A large unit of chemical substance made up of many small units is called Polymer

Many small unit combine to form large unit of Polymer.

 

Explanation

The word ‘Poly’ means Many and ‘Mer’ means Part

Hence Polymer means Many Parts (Many parts of small unit combine to form large unit)



Example 1

A synthetic fibre like nylon is  a polymer as it is made of many small chemical substances joined together

Example 2

A natural fibre like cotton is also a polymer called "Cellulose",it is made up of large number of glucose units
