Ex 5.1, 10 Solve the given inequality for real x: ๐‘ฅ/3 > ๐‘ฅ/2 + 1 ๐‘ฅ/3 > ๐‘ฅ/2 + 1 ๐‘ฅ/3 โˆ’๐‘ฅ/2 > 1 (2๐‘ฅ โˆ’ 3๐‘ฅ)/6 > 1 (โˆ’๐‘ฅ)/6 > 1 โˆ’x > 6 Since x is negative, we multiply both sides by -1 & change the signs (โ€“ 1) ร— (โ€“x) < (โ€“ 1) ร— (6) x < โ€“6 C Hence x is a real number which is less than โ€“6 Thus , solution is (โ€“โˆž, โ€“6).
