Open the PhET simulations for "States of Matter: Basics" and "Concentration". In the first, change temperature to watch particles change between solid, liquid and gas. In the second, add solute or solvent and watch the concentration change, linking the bar reading to the % m/v idea from this chapter.

Scientists are working on blood substitutes that carry oxygen, which could help when donated blood is scarce. But real blood does many complex jobs at once, so making a full substitute that is safe for every patient remains a big challenge.
