Why do bees create hexagonal honeycombs?Bees build their storage cells in perfect hexagons. Why do bees choose hexagons? It is a matter of efficiency and survival. No Gaps: Circles would leave gaps (wasted space). Strength: Hexagons lock together tightly, creating a strong structure. Efficiency (The most important reason): Of the shapes that fit perfectly (triangles, squares, hexagons), the hexagon holds the most amount of honey using the least amount of wax. Bees are natural engineers optimizing their building materials!
