Constructing Different Shapes of EyesWe want to construct different shapes of eyes How will we do it? We choose different "centers" for your compass. Instead of A and B, we pick points C and D. For a thin eye: Pick C and D closer to the line XY. For a round eye: Pick C and D further away from the line XY. Will C and D lie on the perpendicular bisector AB? Yes. To keep the eye symmetrical (so the left side equals the right side), the centers must lie on that middle line (the perpendicular bisector). So, we can generalise this then Any point that is the same distance from X and Y will always land on that perpendicular bisector line.
