Question 1 - Page 173 Find the values of: (a) 14 × (– 15)Since there is one negative sign, answer is negative Thus, 14 × (–15) = –210 Question 1 - Page 173 Find the values of: (b) – 16 × (– 5)Since there are two negative signs, answer is positive Thus, (–16) × (–5) = 16 × 5 = 80 Question 1 - Page 173 Find the values of: (c) 36 ÷ (– 18)Since there is one negative sign, answer is negative Now, 36 ÷ (– 18) = 36/(−18) = (−36)/18 = –2 Question 1 - Page 173 Find the values of: (d) (– 46) ÷ (– 23)Since there are two negative signs, answer is positive Now, (–46) ÷ (– 23) = (−46)/(−23) = 46/23 = 2
