Associative PropertyLet’s say we want to find 5 × – 3 × 4 We find it by multiplying different numbers first and finding the answer Thus, in both cases the answer is the same So, we can say that It doesn’t matter which numbers we multiply first, our final answer is the same We can signify this as a × (b × c) = (a × b) × c But this works for multiplication, le’ts check for division. Associativity For Division The rule would be a ÷ (b ÷ c) = (a ÷ b) ÷ c Let’s take an example Taking a = 2, b = 3 & c = 4 L.H.S a ÷ (b ÷ c) = 2÷(3÷4) = 2÷(3/4) = 2×4/3 = 𝟖/𝟑 R.H.S (a ÷ b) ÷ c = (2÷3) ÷4 = (2/3)÷4 = 2/3×1/4 = 𝟏/𝟔
