Chinese Number SystemThe Chinese developed a very advanced Base-10 (Decimal) system around the 3rd century AD. It was unique because it used counting rods (small sticks) to represent numbers. Key Features: It is a Place Value System: Just like our modern numbers, the position matters. Alternating Orientation: To avoid confusion between numbers (like knowing if || is " 2 " or "11"), they alternated the direction of the rods for each place value. Zongs (Vertical Rods): Used for Units (1s), Hundreds (100s), Ten Thousands (10, 000 s), etc. Hengs (Horizontal Rods): Used for Tens (10s), Thousands (1, 000s), Hundred Thousands, etc. CHINESE HENG AND ZONG ROD NUMERALS Zongs - Units, Hundreds, Tens of thousands...
