Construct Breaking RectanglesConstruct a rectangle that can be divided into 3 identical squares as shown in the figure. To do this, we first label all our sides. Now, ABCD is our rectangle AEHD, EFGH, FBCG are identical squares ABCD is a rectangle AB = CD & AD = BC AEHD, EFGH, FBCG are identical squares Thus, all the sides of these squares are equal Thus, AE = EF = EB = DH = HG = GC And AD = EH = FG = BC Let AD = 4 cm Thus, AE = EF = FB = AD = 4 cm Now, AB = AE + EF + FB = 4 + 4 + 4 = 12 cm Similarly, we can take any value of AD to get value AB
