Question 2 - Page 199 In each of these cases, observe 1. how the length XY compares to that of AB and 2. the shape of the 4-sided figure ABYX.For 1 - how the length XY compares to that of AB In every single case where X and Y are at the same distance from the top, the length of XY is 7 cm, which is exactly equal to the length of AB. For 2 - "the shape of the 4-sided figure ABYX" The figure ABYX is a rectangle This is because Since AB is horizontal and both X and Y are at the same height, the line XY is also horizontal This means AB is parallel to XY Since AD and BC are parallel, AX is parallel to BY A 4-sided figure with two pairs of parallel sides and 90° angles (at A and B) is a rectangle
