Compare the numbers and fill in the boxes with < or >: a. –10 +12 b. +17 –10 c. 0 –20 d. +9 –9 e. – 25 –7 f. +15 -17Let’s look at one by one a. –10 ▭ +12 Since positive numbers are always greater than negative numbers –10 < +12 b. +17 ▭ –10 Since positive numbers are always greater than negative numbers +17 > –10 c. 0 ▭ –20 Since zero is greater than all negative numbers 0 > –20 d. +9 ▭ –9 Since positive numbers are always greater than negative numbers +9 > –9 e. – 25 ▭ –7 Since both are negative numbers, we compare without negative sign Now, 25 > 7 Multiplying by –1 both sides If we multiply negative number, sign reverses 25 × –1 < 7 × –1 –25 < –7 f. +15 ▭ -17 Since positive numbers are always greater than negative numbers +15 > –17
