Question 1 (c) Carry out the following subtractions using Brahmagupta’s method: c. 5/6−4/9 Basically, we need to make denominator same To do this, we multiply both denominators 6 × 9 = 54 But, this is too big We can make both denominators 18 Let’s do that 𝟓/𝟔=5/6 ×3/3 =𝟏𝟓/𝟏𝟖 𝟒/𝟗=4/9 ×2/2 =𝟖/𝟏𝟖 Now, our subtraction becomes 5/6−4/9 = 15/18−8/18 = (15 − 8)/18 = 𝟕/𝟏𝟖
