Question 1 (b) Carry out the following subtractions using Brahmagupta’s method: b. 2/5−4/15 In Brahmagupta’s method, We first make denominator of fractions same And then add or subtract numerator To make denominator same, we multiply both denominators 5 × 15 = 75 But, this is too big We can just do 5 × 3 = 15 and only change 1st fraction Let’s do that Let’s do that 𝟐/𝟓=𝟐/𝟓 ×𝟑/𝟑 =𝟔/𝟏𝟓 Now, our subtraction becomes 2/5−4/15 = 6/15−4/15 = (6 − 4)/15 = 𝟐𝟐/𝟏𝟓
