Solutions to CBSE Sample Paper - English Class 11

The Government has banned the use of plastic bags for shopping purposes. Write a debate in about 120-150 words either for or against this decision.

  • Plastic bags can be convenient, cheap, and durable, and can help in carrying and storing goods.
  • Plastic bags can also be harmful to the environment, wildlife, and human health, and can contribute to pollution and waste.

Answer as written by the student:

Plastic bags are one of the most common and widespread sources of pollution and waste in the world. Every year, millions of plastic bags are used and thrown away, ending up in landfills, oceans, and streets. Plastic bags are not biodegradable, which means they do not break down easily and can persist for hundreds of years. Plastic bags can also leach toxic chemicals into the soil and water, contaminating them and posing a threat to human and animal health.

Plastic bags are also a major cause of harm and death for many animals, especially marine creatures. Many animals mistake plastic bags for food and ingest them, causing choking, suffocation, starvation, and internal injuries. Plastic bags can also entangle and trap animals , preventing them from moving, breathing, or escaping predators. Plastic bags can also disrupt the natural habitats and ecosystems of animals, affecting their survival and reproduction.
