The factors that determine the utility of any natural resource are the form , place , time and technology of the resource.

  • The form of the resource refers to its physical or chemical state, such as solid, liquid or gas. 

  • The place of the resource refers to its location and accessibility, such as near or far, easy or difficult. 

  • The time of the resource refers to its availability and demand, such as day or night, season or year. 

  • The technology of the resource refers to the knowledge and skill used to exploit and utilize the resource, such as traditional or modern, simple or complex.

These factors affect the utility of any natural resource because they influence its usefulness and value for human beings.
