How is resource  different from the gifts of nature?

  • A resource is anything that is used to satisfy a need. It can be natural or human-made, renewable or non-renewable, potential or actual, biotic or abiotic.

  • The gifts of nature are the natural endowments, such as land, air, water, soil, minerals, natural vegetation and fossil fuels.

  • They are not resources by themselves, but they become resources when they have utility for human beings.
