Chapter 10 Class 6 - Motion and Measurement of Distances

Points to be remembered while taking measurements-

1.   Place the scale in contact with the object along its length

 

2.   If the zero point of the scale is broken , you can avoid using the zero mark and use the full mark of the scale, you can subtract the reading later.  

For example, if the reading at one end 1.3cm and at the other end is 13.8 centimetre, then to calculate the length of the object, we’ll subtract these two measurements.

13.8cm-1.3cm=12.5cm

 

3. Correct position of the Eye is also important for taking measurements. Your eye should be exactly in front of the point where the measurement is to be taken.
