(b) If the Earth did not have an atmosphere, would its average surface temperature be higher or lower than what it is now? Explain. 

Answer

If the Earth did not have an atmosphere, there would be an absence of greenhouse effect . 

The greenhouse effect traps heat from the sun .

Without an atmosphere, the temperature of the earth would be lower than what it is now.
