Gurmit wanted to perform Activity 16.8 using a laser torch. Her teacher advised her not to do so. Can you explain the basis of the teachers advise?

Answer

In Activity 16.8, we throw light on our friend’s eye with a torch, and observe the size of the pupil.

Laser torch has laser light.

Laser light has very high intensity and hence it is harmful for the human eyes.

It can cause damage to the eyes and can even lead to blindness.

Thus, we should avoid looking at a laser beam directly.
