Identify the part which vibrates to produce sound in the following instruments:

(a) Dholak (b) Sitar (c) Flute

(a) Dholak -

Dholak is a musical instrument which has a thin stretched membrane .

When the head is beaten gently the stretch membrane starts to vibrate.

The sound is produced by the vibrations of this thin stretched membrane.

(b) Sitar -

Sitar is a musical instrument which has stretched strings.

The sound is produced by the vibrations of these stretched things

(c) Flute -

Flute is a musical instrument which is a hollow pipe with holes.

When air is blown in the pipe, the air inside the pipe vibrates which produces sound

So, we can say that sound is produced by air column inside the flute ..
