Multiplication of rational numbers

Let’s do this by examples.

 

2/3 × 4

= (2 × 4)/3

= 8/3

 

(-9)/8 × 2

= (-9 × 2)/8

= (-9)/4

 

2/3 × (-5)/4

= (2 × (-5))/(3 × 4)

= (1 × (-5))/(3 × 2)

= (-5)/6

 

–4 × ( -23 )/ 7

= 4 × 23/7

= (23 × 4)/7

= 92/7
