Let’s learn how to do Greater than, smaller than in integers

Let's draw integers in the number line

6 integers between.jpg

As we move towards right,

   number increases

Comparing Integers - Part 2

We follow these rules

  • For positive numbers, greater number is greater

    6 > 2, 4 > 1, 3 > 2

  • Positive numbers are always greater than 0

    6 > 0, 4 > 0, 3 > 0

  • Positive numbers are always greater than negative numbers

    6 > –5, 4 > –4, 3 > –2

  • 0 is greater than negative numbers

    0 > –5, 0 > –4, 0 > –2

Comparing Integers - Part 3

  • For negative numbers , we remove the sign, find greater, and then reverse the sign

For –4  & – 2

4 > 2,

So, –4 < –2

For –5 & –1

5 > 1

So, –5 < –1

For –3 & –6

3 < 6

So, –3 > –6
