Distributive law in Integers

Distributivity means

  a × (b + c) = ab + bc

  a × (b − c) = ab − bc

 

Example :

  2 × (5 + 7) = 2 × 5 + 2 × 7

         = 10 + 14

         = 24

 

  2 × (5 − 7) = 2 × 5 − 2 × 7

         = 10 − 14

         = −4

 

  3 × (9 + 5) = 3 × 9 + 3 × 5

         = 27 + 15

         = 42

 

  3 × (9 − 5) = 3 × 9 − 3 × 5

         = 27 − 15

         = 12
