Let's learn how to write integers on the number line.

Earlier, we were used to only positive numbers, like 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and so on...

 

But, Integers are   

……, −6, −5, −4, −3, −2, −1, 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, …..

 

So, what we do is

  • We first draw a line, and mark 0 in the middle
  • On the right of 0 , we have positive numbers like 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, ...
  • And on the left of 0, we have negative numbers like -1, -2, -3, -4

 

Thus, our number line looks like
