  • It means the law is supreme .
  • It means three things :
1. No one is above the law
  • The law applies to every person - minister, rich person, officer, ordinary citizen.
  • This stops the misuse of power .
2. Equality before the law
  • Every individual irrespective of status, identity, or rank is treated equally by the law.
3. Equal protection of the law
  • All persons in similar circumstances shall be treated equally by law without arbitrary discrimination .
  • Arbitrary = done on someone's whim, without reason or rule.
