In standard pronunciation, /id/ is heard after /t/ or /d/, /d/ after most voiced sounds, and /t/ after most voiceless sounds. The textbook also notes that adjectives such as ragged and aged can end in /id/.

I still remember one afternoon at the market when I saw an elderly man carrying two heavy bags. He was walking slowly and looked tired. At that moment, I realised that I could easily help him. I asked whether he wanted me to carry one of the bags, and he smiled and agreed. I walked with him up to the bus stop. He thanked me warmly, and a wave of satisfaction washed over me. In the end, I realised that helping someone often takes only a few minutes, but it can make their day much easier.
