Kind words are small in number but huge in effect. As the poet Charles Swain reminds us, “a little said, and truly said, can deeper joy impart” than a flood of empty talk. A single sincere “thank you”, “I am proud of you”, or “don’t worry, I am with you” can lift a sad heart and cheer a lonely home. Such words cost nothing, yet they heal, encourage and build trust. Harsh or empty words, on the other hand, fade away like summer birds and leave only emptiness. So we should choose our words with care, speak gently, and remember that a few honest, kind words are far more powerful than many showy ones.

Dear Diary,
Today something small taught me a big lesson. My friend Aarav looked very low after failing a test. I did not give a long speech. I simply sat beside him and said, “It’s okay. One test does not decide who you are. I believe in you.” Just those few words changed his face. He smiled, thanked me, and said he felt much lighter. I remembered the poem ‘Words’, which says “those few, how dear!” – that a kind voice often uses the fewest words. I learnt that I do not need many words to help someone ; a few honest, caring words spoken from the heart can truly cheer a lonely heart.
Goodnight,
[Your name]
