How to answer: Find one similarity (nature + senses + memory) and one difference (mood: peaceful vs slightly sad).
Answer: Both poems are about looking back at childhood with deep feeling. Thomas Hood remembers his birthplace - the little window, the morning sun, the red and white roses and the laburnum tree his brother planted. Like Tagore, he uses nature and the senses to bring memories to life. The difference is in mood: Tagore’s poem is gentle and peaceful, while Hood’s poem turns a little sad as he compares his happy past with his less happy present. Together they show how memory and nature are closely linked.
